The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) implemented the Labor Pension Act (the"New Pension System") on July 1, 2005. Employees who commenced employment on or after July 1, 2005, are subject to the New Pension System. Those employed before this date may choose to remain under the Old Pension System governed by the Labor Standards Act, or to opt into the New Pension System.
